How to build a take apart cross

There are many challenges for those who carry or walk with a cross. Some have cars, motorcycles and trucks. Give some ideas how to make crosses condusive to the transportation you have. Most people who carry the cross have trucks but I do know a few with cars. I have a motorcycle also and am working with some ideas for it.

How to build a take apart cross

I drive a 1988 mercury cougar and could not get a assembled cross to fit inside of my car. So I built a take apart one sized to fit inside of my car and still have room to drive safely. I started with two 8' 2" * 4"'s of rough cut cedar. I used cedar because it is lighter than pine and has a more rustic look. I wanted to make the cross 8' by 6' but an 8' board would not fit in the car. The longest I could fit in was a 7' 10" board. So I made the cross 7'10" with a 5' 6" cross piece.
I did not want to screw the two pieces together as i had to take it apart each time i used it, so I cut notches in each board. I cut them the width of the 2 by 4
and half as deep. So the two pieces fit together snugly. I then tie a piece of rope in a criss cross fashion around the two pieces. It takes only a few minutes to set up and gives the cross cool look also.....
