Revival?

What do we mean by revival? There are some main characteristics of revival.

People get closer to God through a relationship with Jesus Christ
People become repented. This means their stinkin selves compared to a holy God and cry out for forgiveness
People go after the lost. Without the lost coming to Jesus Christ there is no true revival. Revival is about God’s agenda and it is His will that none should perish but come to the saving knowledge of His Son Jesus Christ.

With these three things in mind. Are you wanting revival? Are you willing to give it all for the knowledge of the Son? If not you do not want revival, you want out of your own mess. If you do you will give all you have. You will search for it as a lost pearl of treasure.

This is not feel good, but God good.

Are We Like Jesus?

The same person who sent me this email commented on the picture in the atttachment. This picture was taken out of an illustratred sermon I did at a ministry where 3 young people came to the Lord and one came confessing his sin of pornography and wanting deliverance. This person has the whole video and if you want a copy I can certainly send you one. Anyway this persons comment to my mother was “What does he think he is Jesus?” This comment was made in a tone of offense.

The illustrated sermon was all about forgiveness. “I am crucified with Christ, yet I live, not I in the flesh, but now I live by the faith of the Son of God who gave His life for me.”

Do we do these good acts and feel it is sacrifice to discomfort our lives only for a moment, such as missing a flight or are we willing to discomfort our entire lives for the sake of others. Jesus taught many times to give up your life to gain it. Jesus taught your life is not your own. I know we need to start somewhere, but if we stop at just the sacrifice of discomfort, we will never learn the obedience of giving our lives to Jesus.

This use to be part of a Cambell’s soup slogan it ends with “his head grows bald but not his chin.

The church has adopted this also here is how it goes:

In the days of toil and sin you just say a prayer and your as good as in.

In the days of toil and sin just text a number, then you can slumber.

The church has gotten away from the message of Christ living in us. They have gotten away from a message of repentance. They have gotten away from warnings such as: “What does it gain a man to win the world and lose his own soul in hell. Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You compass sea and land to make one convert and when he is made you make him twice the son of hell than you are yourself.”

Jesus says if one is born again all the good they do is really Him doing it in them (John 3:21). Think about it.
